Information Feedwell handles
Feedwell handles the account email and authentication identifier used to sign in; pet profile details and any pet photo you upload; food and calorie logs; app settings; and food label information you choose to submit to the community food database.
Why it is used
This information is used to provide account access, save your pet profiles and feeding records, calculate nutrition estimates, sync your settings, and make community food entries available to other signed-in users. Feedwell does not show your account email with a community food entry.
Storage and retention
When you explicitly choose English or Korean, Feedwell stores a first-party language preference cookie named feedwellLocale. It contains only en or ko, is used solely to keep the interface in your chosen language across pages and sign-ins, and expires after one year. It is not used for tracking, analytics, advertising, or profiling. Choosing another language replaces it, and clearing Feedwell's site data removes it.
In local-only mode, pet profiles, photos, logs, settings, and foods you add are stored in your browser and are not synced to Feedwell's cloud. Clearing this browser's site data deletes that local copy. You can still use remote food search in local-only mode. Search text is sent to Feedwell's food lookup service to return matching products, but it is not added to your cloud account data.
Local-only users can download a complete Feedwell backup and restore it in another local browser. The backup contains the pet profiles, photos, logs, settings, and custom foods stored in the app. The current JSON backup file is not encrypted, so you should keep it private and store it only somewhere you trust.
Local-only users may optionally share an individual custom food with the public food database. Feedwell sends only that food's name, type, calorie values, and label or guaranteed-analysis values. The contribution is stored without an account ID, email, local device marker, pet profile, or food log. Feedwell HMAC-hashes the request address for a temporary abuse counter and does not store the raw address in the database.
Cloud account data is stored using Supabase. Supabase encrypts customer data at rest and in transit, but Feedwell does not currently provide client-side end-to-end encryption. This means authorized database administrators can technically access cloud account content when required to operate or secure the service.
Cloud account data is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, Feedwell deletes the authentication account and its associated pet profiles, photos, logs, settings, and community food submissions from the active database. Limited copies may remain temporarily in infrastructure backups or where retention is required by law, and are not used for ordinary product operation.
Your choices and rights
Open Account settings to change your email or password, or to permanently delete your account and all associated app data. The deletion control is available directly in the account page and does not require contacting support. You may also contact support@feedwell.app with a privacy question or request.
Beta limitations
Do not enter veterinary records, diagnoses, or other sensitive medical details. Before a wider Korean launch, this notice must be completed with the operator's legal identity and contact details, the production hosting location, any overseas transfer disclosures, and reviewed Korean-language terms.
